Is it really possible to achieve immortality through prayers, reincarnation and self-sacrifice?

Is it possible for a human being to attain eternal life or be immortal? Whatever your religious belief, there is a widely used term series in which terms or phrases such as eternity, life, death, mortality, immortality, resurrection, space, time, universe, nothingness, emptiness, forever, and infinity are used, in this video as a way to understand the bases behind the different belief systems that talk about the steps to take to achieve eternity or immortality.

Whether you are a Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu or follower of Greek mythology, they all approach the search for eternity from different perspectives. Which of these spiritual philosophies is better for you, to reach the external life that you seek. Through this video you could find the answer.

Something that we must do before analyzing each of these terms is to make a difference between a concept, an action and a state. Both eternity and infinity are considered as concepts which do not need space and time to speak of their existence. Based on these concepts, only God can have an eternal and infinite nature because God has no beginning, no end and is not subject to laws influenced by time and space, contrary to his creations.

On the contrary, there are a series of material and immaterial actions, causes and effects, and states which need space and time for their existence, such as life, death, nothingness, mortality, spirit, soul, energy and immortality. God is eternal, because he does not need space and time to exist, on the contrary, according to some spiritual writings, humans can achieve immortality, but not eternity, since humans operate within an existence scheme that requires space and time.

God and humans, although they have a spiritual nature according to the biblical books, are of a different nature, where one does not require space and time to exist, contrary to the other that requires space and time to exist as in the case of believers.

When you analyze the differences, the way different belief systems have to establish mechanisms to reach eternal life, through worship or submission to a God, different phases of spiritual growth, purity of radiated energy, and trying to reach the divine perfection through reincarnation, the question arises in me, what is the genesis of this need in human beings to seek eternal life.

Why do human beings want to be immortal? Why do some human beings wish to be gods on earth? Why do you want to live forever? What would be the pros and cons of being immortal in a world of mortals? What is the reason behind this search for spiritual perfection? There are many questions to which very few have the adequate answer, no matter what belief system we are talking about.

People believe if they do what they have to do and are supposed to do then when they die they will be granted immortality. Let’s analyze a little what is said in: Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “God has set eternity in their hearts.” This means that all of us who are made in the image of God have an intuitive awareness that life does not stop at the grave. This is where the concept of eternity and action (space and time) eternal life or immortality creates some confusion.

What is immortality in Christianity? Thus immortality in Christianity is a gift. Only God is immortal; on account of Christ’s resurrection, immortality is given to mortals as gift in salvation. To this key notion is added another significant aspect based on Christ’s resurrection. Immortality means the resurrection of the body.

Hindus believe in the doctrines of samsara (the continuous cycle of life, death, and reincarnation) and karma (the universal law of cause and effect). One of the key thoughts of Hinduism is “atman,” or the belief in soul. This philosophy holds that living creatures have a soul, and they’re all part of the supreme soul. The purpose of life for Hindus is to achieve four aims, called Purusharthas. These are dharma, kama, artha and moksha. These provide Hindus with opportunities to act morally and ethically and lead a good life.

Buddhists believe that the human life is one of suffering, and that meditation, spiritual and physical labor, and good behavior are the ways to achieve enlightenment, or nirvana. The Buddha’s aim was to escape suffering and be released from the cycle of rebirth. Buddhists today have the same goal. When a Buddhist reaches a transcendent level of enlightenment most often achieved through dedicated meditation a Buddhist has achieved nirvana, an eternal state of perfect peace, happiness, and enlightenment.

What is eternal life according to Islam? Akhirah is the term used in Islam to describe the belief in everlasting life after death. Muslims regard life on Earth as a test from Allah, to prepare them for eternal life. Importantly, though, Muslims believe that Allah will not test them beyond their limits. How do Taoists believe they can achieve immortality? In Taoism death is seen as just another phase in life, although many Taoists have attempted to achieve immortality.

How did the Greek gods become immortal? In the ancient Greek myths, ambrosia (Ancient Greek: ‘immortality’), the food or drink of the Greek gods, is often depicted as conferring longevity or immortality upon whoever consumed it. Can Greek gods grant immortality? Granted by Another: Gods and some other powerful beings can grant varying forms of immortality, they are forever young. Granted by Artifact: The food consumed by many gods, such as the Golden Apples of the Norse gods, or the Ambrosia of the Greek Pantheon can grant immortality
and in some cases, even grant god powers.

Where does this need to seek immortality come from? From my point of view of religions, whatever it is, it is simply a reflection of the fears, desires, aspirations and fantasies of human beings in which the search for immortality is part of it. From remote time to being human, she has learned to fear death, phenomena that you do not know, much less control her and, relying on myths, they try to seek to be immortal as a way to avoid death or the fear of death.

Product of magical thinking, religious mysticism, superstitious behavior avoiding the fear of death is part of the collective consciousness of a large majority of cultures and civilizations in which the desire to be immortal is part of this superstitious behavior using prayers, worship to gods, creating the resurrection of the soul and the perfection or purity of the spirit to reach that spiritual state where death does not exist.

Because the spirit, as energy, never dies, it only transforms into a state where time and space cease to exist, some call it nirvana, others call it heaven.
